From the Boosters:

Hello track athletes and parents. This is the booster club and we have a request for the track team. There is a couple of meets coming up this week and some things are needed for our athletes. We need the following:

Uncrustables

Capri suns

Granola bars

Beef sticks

Fruit snacks

Crackers

Yogurts

String cheese

Apple sauce pouches

Please send items with your athletes or drop them off at the track, during practice times Monday or Tuesday.

There are refrigerators in the concessions that we can put this stuff in. These will be an ongoing need for the team so if you are unable to provide any at this time, you can send any of these items at any time during the season.

Register My Athlete/Aktivate: Everyone must register with registermyathlete.com in order to participate and compete. For those who have already done a sport and have gotten a physical, just log in and add either ‘girls track’ or ‘boys track’ to your profile. If this is your first sport for the year, you will need to go to your doctor and get a sports physical. The paperwork with the doctor’s signatures on it can be uploaded to your profile on the 'register my athlete' page (this method is preferred) or given to a secretary in the office. Blue button below for quick access.

Shoes:

Buy a shoe that fits right now-- you will wear out the shoe before you grow into it.  Runners need a new pair of shoes every 4-6 months.  The older more experienced high school athletes will most likely need another pair before the season is over.  Remember, paying for a good shoe now will save on injury and countless aches and pains later.

If you can go to the St. George Running Center they can help you find a good shoe to fit your foot type. They will give a discount to high school runners.

Hibbet in Cedar carries good running shoes, particularly the Brooks and Hoka brands.  You can go there and try on a few different models and get a good size and fit.  The shoes should make your feet feel loved...comfortable and relieved for putting that shoe on.

The Running Warehouse website is a great place to get good deals and they do have free returns.  Stay away from the Nike Frees or other shoes that give no cushion or support.

The Brooks website is having a great sale right now. They also have a shoe finder tab that will ask you a bunch of questions and then guide you to the right model.
